Shanghai Motor Show will introduce us with a very unusual vehicle next week. We’re talking about the new MG E-Motion Electric Supercar concept. This electric supercar could become a production model, but we’re not sure about that yet, so let’s just wait for the official announcement.
In fact, SAIC, the Chinese foster parent to the British MG, says that if the reaction to the concept was positive they could come up with a production model in about 18 months. That goes to show they have done the homework on this one and designed the concept with production in mind. Details and specs have not been fully revealed yet, but we do know that MG E-Motion has an all-electric powertrain with proper sporting credentials, namely a 0 to 60 mph sprint time of around 4 seconds. It also returns a 310-mile range on a single charge which isn’t bad at all given the performance.
The car also has a fairly interesting design, what with the gullwing doors and all the garnish on the exterior. It looks more like an expensive grand tourer than a red-blooded supercar, but you have to admit this thing is very ‘super’ indeed by MG’s standards!
